Biography

Vikram, “Vik” Chatrath, MD, is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in joint replacement and trauma surgery. He grew up in India where he completed his medical training as a top graduate of his class. He completed his orthopedic residency in Indore, India, at one of the country’s oldest and most prestigious medical schools that was established in 1878. He was awarded multiple gold medals for his academic performance in medical school and residency.

Dr. Chatrath pursued further training in Canada with pioneer surgeons at the University of Ottawa and Dalhousie University in Halifax. In his pursuit of academic excellence, he wrote book chapters, research papers and helped teach residents. All of these helped Dr. Chatrath become an expert in joint replacement and trauma surgery. Dr. Chatrath is board certified in orthopedic surgery by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Dr. Chatrath enjoys treating patients of all ages, from children to seniors, with quality, comprehensive and compassionate medical care. A father himself, Dr. Chatrath relates with other parents and suggests surgery only as a last resort. On the other end of the spectrum, Dr. Chatrath focuses on the care and recovery of senior orthopedic patients. He specializes in treating musculoskeletal conditions that affect the aging population with procedures such as minimally invasive joint replacement, partial joint replacement, joint preservation, trauma surgery, hip arthroscopy, knee arthroscopy, computer-assisted surgery and patient-specific instrumentation procedures.

Dr. Chatrath uses the newest techniques in orthopedic surgery to treat patients' joint pain with high precision. This includes robotic surgery using customized 3D printed instruments for shoulder and knee replacement surgery. Customized technology allows each surgery to be planned in advance and tailored to the patient. His expertise in anterior muscle-sparing total hip replacement surgery results in faster patient recovery and is widely sought after by his patients.

In his free time, Dr. Chatrath enjoys spending time with his family, reading and cycling.
