Richard Harrell, M.D.
Dr. Richard Harrell is a native of Louisiana who graduated from Northeast Louisiana University (now University of Louisiana-Monroe) with a major in biology. He received his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport in 1987.
Upon completion of an orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Missouri in Kansas City, Mo., Dr. Harrell developed an interest in sports medicine. He assisted in the care of players from the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs and major league baseball players from the Kansas City Royals. He is the team physician for the Benton High School Tigers and Evangel Christian Academy, and assists with the Airline High School Vikings. He is also the team physician for the Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers, and assists for the LSU-Shreveport Pilots.
He is Board Certified in Orthopaedic surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. Dr. Harrell practices General Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine with emphasis on arthroscopic and reconstructive procedures on the elbow, shoulder and knees. He is a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America and the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine.
Bossier Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine is located at the WK Bossier Health Center Pavilion at the corner of Airline Drive and Interstate 220 in Bossier City.
